Don't trust me, trust Cornell Lab's guide to Affordable Binoculars: "Our #1 tip is to try as many binoculars as you can before you buy." I have been birding for a bit, but mostly with a camera, and I decided I wanted to spend $200-300 on my first pair of binoculars. I wanted to try out the Vortex Diamondbacks, and they made sure to have some ready for me, but I'm glad I tried them first because I just didn't get along with them. But that's why having a real store to try them out is crucial! Lori spent over an hour with me (off and on) and encouraged me to try some setups beyond the 8x42s that the internet says every beginner should buy, while making sure to explain the drawbacks and compromises of different form factors. I got to try some fancy optics, too, but didn't feel any pressure to spend more than I wanted. They even had some less expensive choices! For my next pair of binoculars, I'm coming back to Front Range. They have a great selection, good pricing, feeders and a wetland out back so you can actually try before you buy, and welcoming, friendly staff!

Great, local birding store. Along woth the standard items you would expect, they even have a small selection of nice gifts (bird-themed of course) and different products to help avoid bird-window collisions. They also have a Uber of different bird books.

Even though I didn’t get birds in the two houses I bought from here, I bet it is user error and hoping for more luck this year! The gentleman here was friendly, knowledgeable, and a joy to chat with. Very passionate bird people!

Went to FRB in the Spring during a sale. Got my dream binos and life was good. Then, my car was broken into and they were stolen. This was 3 weeks after purchase. Of course the sale was no longer happening. I contacted manufacturer to inquiry for a sale and they said not till end of year possibly but offered me a coupon to order online. Only problem, the binos were out of stock and they said wouldn’t be available till later in the year. Again, not a huge deal, but bummed. I had posted in local group about my experience and story and had the owner of FRB reach out and tell me to come into their store and they would honor manufacturer coupon. Couldn’t believe this! This was not the stores fault nor was it the fault of the manufacturer. But this experience showed me that both FRB and Zeiss are amazing companies and will have my business for life!! Thank you!

I love this place. Staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. I usually buy big bags of birdseed and always get great advice on what to use to entice different groups. Best advice I've gotten so far is using safflower seeds to deter the magpies1
